Where to stay?

This region is big and distances between villages & attractions are longer than what it may seem. This is why we recommend splitting your week into 2 or even 3 locations. By splitting your nights across different villages, you will save hours of driving in the morning when it’s time to head to the trailhead. For this itinerary we would recommend:

💡 On our first trip we stayed only in Val Gardena, and that cost us the possibility of doing some of the most importante and long-waited hikes of our trip. So we really DON’t recommend doing this.



  • The best period to visit the dolomites is from late spring to early autumn.
  • To avoid the crowds but still enjoy good weather – travel in June or October.
  • Don’t underestimate how long it can take to go from one point to another, distances are longer than what it seems.
