The Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Italy, are known for their jagged peaks, wide alpine meadows, and turquoise lakes.
This region is perfect for hikers, photographers, and anyone looking for dramatic mountain scenery paired with charming alpine villages.
We’ve put together a 7-day itinerary that covers the highlights — from iconic hikes like Seceda and Tre Cime di Lavaredo to stunning lakes and scenic drives through mountain passes.
Itinerary in details
A full week of discovering one of the most beautiful mountain ranges of the world.
- Day 1 – Val Gardena + Vallunga
- Day 2 – Seceda + Corvara in Badia
- Day 3 – Alpe di Siusi
- Day 4 – Passo Giau + Cortina
- Day 5 – Tre Cime di Lavaredo
- Day 6 – Lago di Braies + Brunico
- Day 7 – Church of St John + Bolzano
Where to stay?
This region is big and distances between villages & attractions are longer than what it may seem. This is why we recommend splitting your week into 2 or even 3 locations. By splitting your nights across different villages, you will save hours of driving in the morning when it’s time to head to the trailhead. For this itinerary we would recommend:
- 3 nights at Val Gardena: Ortisei, Santa Cristina, or Selva di Val Gardena.
- 2 nights at Cortina – it could be in the city or around.
- 1 night at Brunico or Bolzano
💡 On our first trip we stayed only in Val Gardena, and that cost us the possibility of doing some of the most importante and long-waited hikes of our trip. So we really DON’t recommend doing this.
